Fasting has been practiced in all civilizations and religions the world over. It helps removal of body toxins and giving the required rest to your digestive system. The body tries to use its stored energy by burning the fat and other toxins of the body. Fasting helps the body in multiple ways but should be done scientifically after understanding the science of fasting.

The digestive system of the body is the most misused part which is subjected to all sorts of foods, toxins and what not days in and days out, morning to night with out a rest. Like all machinery it needs maintenance and service. Fasting allows you to rest your digestive system and allow the body to do the necessary servicing and maintenance of your digestive system. Don’t worry; you will not die with limited fasting as your body has sufficient energy stored for running of your body for some days with out food.

Fasting has been used as practice in medicine and is also a way of spiritual and metal clarity in many religions. It allows the body to increase its resistance power and fight with disease with more vigor. Fasting is helpful in much chronic disease like heart, migraine, headache, diabetes, allergies and depression.

Fasting does help you in weight loss also but it must be done very scientifically. You can fast for a day once every three days. This will help your body to eliminate a lot of fat. The secret is to prepare the body slowly for the fasting and take it out of the fasting in a gradual phase. During the fast you can do some light exercise. Continuous fasting for more than three days is not recommended without medical advice. Even if you are on medication, you should not fast without the permission from your doctor as it may have many unwanted side effects.
